Ian MacIntosh B.Comm., LL.B., ICD.D

Chairman

Mr. MacIntosh is the President and a Director of Loch Moigh Capital Inc., a private strategic investment firm. He is a former Partner of the national law firm of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, serving a number of years as the firm’s National Practice Group Leader for their Public-Private Partnership practice and maintaining a broad business law practice for many years. He has been involved in numerous business transactions nationally and internationally and has acted as lead counsel on many very large and complex public-private partnership transactions across Canada.

In addition to his practice at Blakes, Mr. MacIntosh has been Vice President and General Counsel for bcIMC, overseeing all legal needs of the organization. He is currently a director and the former Chairman of the prestigious Vancouver Academy of Music and is a director and Chair of the Governance Committee of the Richmond Hospital Foundation. Mr. MacIntosh has also served on numerous other community and charitable boards.

Mr. MacIntosh has both a Bachelor of Commerce degree (with distinction) and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta. He also holds the ICD.D. designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Ron Anderson, CPA, CGA

Director

Mr. Anderson founded Tallinn Capital in 1999 where he is currently the President of the company. Mr. Anderson has over 30 years experience in finance, banking and mergers and acquisitions in Western Canada, including a senior position in BC with a major Canadian bank.

Mr. Anderson is a Board member of Mainstreet Equities Corp. (MEQ - TSX), a Canadian-based real estate company focused on acquisition, redevelopment, repositioning and management of mid-market rental apartment buildings in five major Canadian markets including Vancouver/Lower Mainland, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and the Greater Toronto Area.

Mr. Anderson is a Governor and past Treasurer of Crofton House School, a Board member of The Nature Trust of British Columbia, and has been a director of a number of public and private companies.

Mr. Anderson has a B.Comm from the University of British Columbia and is a CGA.

His experience with REITs and the capital markets is instrumental in guiding Adventus forward.

Rodney B. Johnston, FCPA, FCA

Director

Mr. Johnston retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (“PwC”) after serving 35 years with the firm, to be a founder and lead Adventus. During his lengthy career with PwC (the final 25 years as a partner), he served in a number of senior leadership roles for the firm, including Canadian Infrastructure & Project Finance Leader, Member of PwC’s Canadian Advisory Leadership Group, Member of PwC’s Canadian Taxation Leadership Group, B. C. Region Advisory Leader and B. C. Region Tax Leader.

Mr. Johnston had a long track record of providing taxation, and financial services to businesses in a variety of industries, and was involved with financings in the capital markets, and was a sought out advisor to businesses going public in the Income Trust market during years 2002-2007.

Mr. Johnston qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1978 and in 2011 he was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia. He is a member of the Canadian Council of Public Private Managers, the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.

Mr. Johnston serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of both Adventus Capital Partners Ltd. (the “Manager”) and the trustee of the Trust and also serves as a Director of both the Manager and trustee of the Trust.

Greg Cameron, FCPA, FCA

Director

Greg Cameron retired as CEO of Noralta Lodge Ltd., a 4800 room lodging business primarily in Ft. McMurray Alberta, serving the oilsands industry.

Prior to taking the position of CEO at Noralta Lodge, from 1996 to 2008, Mr. Cameron was a partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and its predecessor organizations.

From 2005 to 2011, Mr. Cameron served as a trustee of the Alberta Cancer Foundation where he was also chair of the audit and finance committee from 2007 to 2011. From 2007 to 2013, Mr. Cameron was a director of the Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club where he served as president from 2010 and 2011.

Mr. Cameron has also lectured extensively for the Canadian Tax Foundation, Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, University of Alberta, and the Alberta Bar Association. 

Mr. Cameron obtained his CA designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 1985 and was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 2014. During his tenure leading Noralta Lodge Ltd., he has been instrumental in significantly growing the company over the past five years. 

Adventus has significant growth goals and Mr. Cameron’s input and direction will help Adventus achieve those goals.

Randy Waites, CPA (Ill.), MBA

Director

Based in Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Waites is a Principal and Managing Director at Avison Young, and is responsible for the Asset Services Group across the company.

Prior to joining Avison Young, he was a Senior Managing Director for Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. in Chicago, and the Chief Operating Officer for John Buck International Properties, LLC, in Abu Dhabi. Previously, Mr. Waites served as the Executive Vice President of Prime Group Realty Trust which at the time was a NYSE publicly traded REIT. Mr. Waites also serves on the advisory board for Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University, in Chicago.

Mr. Waites is a Certified Public Accountant (Illinois), and obtained his MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management, in Glendale, Arizona, and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Illinois State University.

Kevin Lorenz, J.D.

Director

Mr. Lorenz is an accomplished executive with over 25 years of experience in the US guiding and implementing investment strategy across public and private companies.

Since 2015, Mr. Lorenz has been the Chief Investment Officer, Senior Vice President, Treasury & Private Investments at the Katz Group in the family office of Mr. Daryl Katz. The Katz Group has operations in sports and entertainment, including the ownership of the Edmonton Oilers NHL hockey team, real estate and public and private investments. Mr. Lorenz works directly with Mr. Katz to oversee the design, implementation and monitoring of the overall investment strategy for public and private passive investments.

Prior to joining the Katz Group, Mr. Lorenz was Director, Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) Private Client Business at Credit Suisse Securities, LLC, where he was selected to expand Credit Suisse’s UHNW private client business into Canada. Earlier in his career, he held positions of increasing responsibility at UBS Financial Services Inc., Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith, Inc. and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, an independent bureau within the U.S. Department of the Treasury that charters, regulates and supervises all national banks and thrift institutions. 

Mr. Lorenz holds a J.D. from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School (Fairfax, Virginia), an M.B.A. from Benedictine University (Lisle, Illinois) and a B.S. in economics from Illinois State University (Normal, Illinois). Mr. Lorenz is an American citizen.

Michael Happel

Director

Mr. Happel has over 30 years of experience in US real estate that spans multiple real estate cycles and includes office, retail, multifamily, industrial and hotel properties. His experience has included both the private and public real estate markets. In addition to his investment and capital markets experience, he has significant experience in managing, growing, and monetizing real estate businesses.

Mr. Happel is currently a senior advisor at Rubenstein Partners, a real estate private equity firm focused on acquiring and developing office buildings in the US, with assets under management of US $3.5B (approximately 16M sq ft. of office buildings) which he joined in 2021.

Between 2002 and 2021, Mr. Happel was employed by several significant real estate firms in a variety of key management roles.

From 1988-2002, Mr. Happel worked at Morgan Stanley & Co., specializing in real estate and becoming co-head of acquisitions for The Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds, or MSREF, in 1994. While at MSREF, he was involved in acquiring over $10 billion of real estate and related assets in MSREF I and MSREF II.

Mr. Happel received a B.A. in economics from Duke University in 1985 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1988. He currently serves on the Trinity Board of Advisors at Duke University and is on the board of the AHRC Foundation, an organization focused on assisting people with learning disabilities. He currently lives in Manhattan, New York with his wife and two children.
